Guide · Getting started
Your first meeting with a financial adviser
The first meeting is about understanding where you are and where you want to go. Bring what you can; nothing here is compulsory and gaps can be filled in later.
Checklist
What to bring.
- Recent super statements (or log in to myGov to see all your accounts)
- Payslips or business financials, and your last tax return
- Bank, loan and credit card balances
- Investment statements: shares, managed funds, property
- Insurance policies, inside and outside super
- Wills, powers of attorney, and any trust or company details
- A rough idea of what you spend each month
Questions to ask
Ask us anything. Start with these.
- Are you on the Financial Advisers Register, and who is your licensee?
- What can and can’t you advise on?
- How are you paid, and what will this cost before I commit?
- What happens after the plan: reviews and ongoing service?
What happens next
From first chat to a written plan.
If it’s a fit, we gather details, research and prepare a written Statement of Advice, walk you through it, then implement what you agree to. See how we work. Every fee is set out in writing before you commit. See how our fees work.
General information only. It does not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Consider the relevant PDS and our Financial Services Guide, and get personal advice before acting.
Common questions
Can we meet online?
Yes. We meet at 190 Edward Street, Brisbane City, or online.
Should my partner come?
If you share finances, yes. Advice works best when both of you are part of it.
